The North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission works to help people live with the wildlife that surrounds them. As a animal damage control agent, my goal is to teach you ways to do that. If that is not possible then my job is to assist you in removing the problem in the safest, most humane way!

Any capture or taking of wildlife in the state of North Carolina requires a permit or license before proceeding. Contact the state of North Carolina or a Licensed Damage Control Agent for permits and more information.

My name is Tyrone Phillips. I have been called the original mountain man in my hometown of Lake Lure, NC. As a young boy I spent my mornings before school and after running a trap line for muskrats and fishing the Rocky Broad River and Lake Lure. As I got older, I began hunting. When I harvested my first deer my mother handed me a book on cleaning and dressing the animal. Her belief was that if I was going to hunt, I also had to know how to properly take care of the harvest. Those skills have served me well for over 40 years. My family lives off of the venison and fish that I provide.

It was these skills that led a local wildlife enforcement officer to recommend that I get certified to become a depredation agent.

I have been a NC Certified Wildlife Agent for over seven years.
